What is asbestos testing?
Asbestos testing involves taking samples of suspect materials and having them analysed in an independent laboratory to determine whether asbestos fibres are present and, if so, which type. This is often the quickest way to check specific areas of concern without carrying out a full asbestos survey.
Common asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) we frequently encounter include:
- Textured coatings (e.g. Artex ceilings and walls)
- Asbestos cement sheets and roofing panels

When do I need asbestos testing instead of a full asbestos survey?
Asbestos testing is ideal when you have one or more specific suspect materials (for example a ceiling, floor tile or garage roof) and you simply need to know whether they contain asbestos. A full asbestos survey is more appropriate when you need a comprehensive review of a whole building or site.
How quickly can I get asbestos test results?
In many cases we can offer a 24-hour turnaround from sample collection to results, depending on the number of samples and laboratory workload. We will confirm expected timescales when booking your visit so you know exactly when to expect your results.
Can I take asbestos samples myself and send them in?
We strongly recommend that asbestos samples are taken by a trained professional. Incorrect sampling can disturb asbestos fibres and create unnecessary risk. Our surveyors use appropriate methods and equipment to keep disruption and exposure to a minimum.
Which areas do you cover for asbestos testing?
